Our mill is open to you, too

Pon Vayal doesn't only press our own oils. Bring your seed and we'll wood-press it while you watch, bring your grain and we'll stone-mill it fresh, help you solar-dry a harvest, supply shops and restaurants in bulk, or work through an export order with you, step by step.

Golden, freshly pressed oil beside sesame seedsGolden, unrefined oil, just as the seed gives it

Custom (job-work) pressing

Bring your own seed. Take home your own oil.

If you grow or buy your own coconut (copra), groundnut or sesame, you don't have to hand it over to a refinery and hope for the best. Bring it, or send it, to us, and we'll cold-press it in our wooden chekku, the same press we use for our own oils.

You take home your own oil and your own oil-cake (punnakku). Nothing is added, nothing is swapped, and nothing from another batch is blended in. You're welcome to watch it being pressed, so you know exactly what went into the bottle.

Charges are per [unit, Pon Vayal to confirm]. Tell us roughly how much seed you have and we'll talk you through it before you travel.

Honest note: yields vary with the quality and moisture of your seed, and a wooden chekku produces slightly less oil than industrial solvent extraction. We'd rather press it slowly and honestly than chase a higher number.

How it works

From your seed to your bottle, in five steps

A simple, see-it-for-yourself process, the same one our own oils go through.

Bring or send your seed

Drop off, or post, your coconut/copra, groundnut or sesame. Let us know the quantity beforehand so we can plan the pressing.

We clean & solar-dry if needed

We sort out grit and debris and, if the seed is still damp, solar-dry it to a safe moisture level, good drying keeps mould (and, with groundnut, aflatoxin) at bay.

Slow wood-pressing in the chekku

Your seed is pressed in our traditional wooden chekku, mechanical, solvent-free, and slow enough that you can stand and watch.

Settling & filtering

The fresh oil is left to settle, then simply filtered. No bleaching, no deodorising, no refining chemistry.

You collect your oil + cake

You leave with your own unrefined oil and your own punnakku, ready to cook with, or to use as cattle feed or fertiliser.

Please note: unrefined groundnut (peanut) oil keeps the peanut proteins from the seed, so it is not safe for anyone with a peanut allergy. If you're pressing groundnut to share or sell, please pass this on.

Custom grain milling

Bring your own grain. We'll stone-mill it fresh.

The same idea as our pressing, for your flour. Bring your own clean, dry wheat or rice and we'll stone-mill it fresh in small batches while you wait, you take home exactly the flour your grain gives, with nothing added, nothing sieved away and nothing from another batch blended in.

A stone mill grinds slowly between two stones, so the whole grain goes in together and the flour stays freshly fragrant. It's the same care we put into our own stone-milled flours and batter.

Charges are per [unit, Pon Vayal to confirm]. Tell us roughly how much grain you have and we'll talk you through it beforehand.

Honest note: freshly stone-milled flour keeps the whole grain's bran and germ, so it stales faster than shelf-stable refined flour. Mill what you'll use within a few weeks, and store it airtight, cool and dark.

What you can bring

Clean, dry wheat for atta, or rice for rice flour. Let us know the quantity ahead of time so we can plan the milling. Want idli–dosa batter ground from your own rice and urad dal too? Ask us, we can talk it through.

Solar drying support

Dried by the sun, off the soil

Good oil starts with well-dried seed. We solar and protected-dry copra, groundnut and sesame down to a safe moisture level, keeping the produce off bare soil and away from chemical drying agents.

It isn't a small detail. Proper drying is one of the most important things you can do for quality, and it's how we limit mould and aflatoxin, a real risk with groundnut in particular. If you've harvested and need it dried down before pressing or storage, we can help.

Honest note: "chemical-free" here means our own drying and pressing, no chemical drying agents, fumigants or solvents. It describes how we work, not a claim to remove anything from your seed.

Why drying matters

Copra is best dried to around 6% moisture and groundnut dried promptly after harvest. Done well, drying protects flavour, shelf life and food safety, long before the seed ever reaches the press.

Wholesale & retail supply

Stock Pon Vayal in your shop, kitchen or brand

We supply in bulk for businesses that want the same wood-pressed, solvent-free oils and plastic-free goods we sell direct.

Bulk oils

Wood-pressed coconut, groundnut and sesame (nallennai) oils, supplied in larger quantities for shops, restaurants and food businesses.

Flours in bulk

Stone-milled flours, ground in small batches and supplied to kitchens and retailers who want them fresh rather than sitting on a shelf.

Natural-fibre bags

Reusable banana, cotton and woven-bamboo fibre carry bags for brands and shops moving away from single-use plastic.

Please note: unrefined oils have lower smoke points than refined oils and oxidise faster, so they're best stored away from light, heat and air. Bulk groundnut oil retains peanut proteins and is not suitable for anyone with a peanut allergy, please label it clearly to your own customers.

Export & international

Taking it across borders, together

We support export and bulk international orders for our oils, flours and natural-fibre packaging. The easiest way to start is simple: tell us your destination country and the quantity you're after.

From there we work through the documentation, packing and shipping with you, rather than promising more than we can stand behind. Each country and product has its own rules, so we'd rather sort the details out properly with you than make claims up front.

What to send us

Your destination country, the products and quantities you need, and any packing or labelling requirements you already know about. We'll come back with what's realistic and how we'd ship it.

Let's talk

Pressing, wholesale or export, tell us what you need

Whether you'd like your own seed pressed, want to stock us in bulk, or are planning an international order, share your destination country and quantity and we'll work it out with you.
