Plastic-free packaging
Carry bags woven from plants, not plastic.
A separate line from our food: reusable carry bags woven from renewable plant fibre, banana, cotton and bamboo, designed to be used again and again, and to take the place of single-use plastic carry bags.
What this is
A bag you keep, instead of a bag you bin
Most carry bags are used for an afternoon and thrown away, and a great many of them are plastic. Ours are the opposite. They are woven from natural plant fibre, sewn to be carried for years, and meant to live in your bag, your boot or behind the shop counter, ready for the next trip.
Because the fibre is plant-based and the bag is built for repeated use, every reusable bag in a hand is one less plastic one in a hedgerow or a drain. That is the whole point: reusable, plastic-free and made from renewable fibre.
- Reusable, built for years of use
- Plant-based natural fibre
- Replaces single-use plastic
Three fibres
Banana, cotton and bamboo
Three natural fibres, each with an honest story. Here is what each one is good at, and what we will not pretend it does.
From crop waste to a strong bag
Banana fibre comes from the plant's pseudostem, the trunk-like stalk left in the field once a bunch has been harvested. It is an agricultural by-product, so the fibre is genuinely a waste-to-value story rather than a fresh crop grown just to be turned into bags.
Spun and woven, that fibre makes a surprisingly strong, durable and fully plant-based bag, sturdy enough for a real shop or a market run.
The classic, built to be reused
Cotton and canvas bags are reusable, washable and long-lasting. The honest advantage of a cotton bag is exactly that: heavy reuse, and keeping plastic litter and microplastics out of the environment in the first place.
So the rule is simple, use it for years. The more trips a single cotton bag makes, the better the trade it represents.
Woven, not chemically dissolved
Bamboo grows fast and regenerates without replanting. We use woven, mechanically processed bamboo fibre, a true natural fibre, for a soft but hard-wearing bag.
Why it matters
India has moved on from throwaway plastic
The rules have changed, and reusable natural-fibre bags fit the new shape of things. Under India's Plastic Waste Management Rules, a list of identified single-use plastic items was banned from 1 July 2022, and the minimum thickness for plastic carry bags was raised to 120 microns from December 2022.
The direction of travel is clear: fewer flimsy, throwaway bags, and a steady shift towards carry bags that are meant to be kept and reused. A well-made banana, cotton or bamboo bag sits naturally on the right side of that change.
What we will and won't say
We would rather make a few claims we can stand behind than a long list we cannot.
Sizes & care
How big they are, and how to look after them
A reusable bag is only as good as the years you get from it. Here are the sizes we make and how to keep each fibre in good shape.
Sizes & capacity
We make carry bags in a few everyday sizes, from a small market bag to a larger grocery tote, with reinforced handles where a bag is meant to carry weight. Exact dimensions and load are confirmed per style.
| Style | Approx. size (W × H × gusset) | Comfortable load |
|---|---|---|

Woven natural fibre, the kind of material our bags are made fromCare & washing
Wash it like a tea towel
Hand- or machine-wash cold with a mild detergent, then air-dry. Skip hot washes and the tumble dryer, which can shrink or weaken the weave over time.
Spot-clean, don't soak
Wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild soap rather than soaking it. Let it air-dry fully in the shade before you fold it away.
Damp cloth, full dry
Spot-clean with a damp cloth and keep it out of long soaks. As with banana fibre, dry it completely in the shade before storing.
Where they go
Made for everyday carrying
From a single household to a whole shop's worth, the same honest bag does the job.
Grocery & retail carry bags
Everyday bags for the market, the grocer and the kitchen, sturdy enough for vegetables, flour and a week's shopping, light enough to fold away and carry every day.
Shop & brand bulk orders
Bulk carry bags for shops, stalls and brands moving away from plastic. Tell us your sizes, quantities and any branding, and we will quote for the order.
Good to know
Questions about our bags
Yes. Our carry bags are woven from natural plant fibre, banana, cotton or bamboo, and are made to replace single-use plastic carry bags. We stick to specific, provable claims: reusable, plastic-free and plant-based.
Its honest advantage is heavy reuse and keeping plastic litter and microplastics out of the environment. A cotton bag costs more to make up front, so the benefit comes from using it for years rather than once. We do not claim cotton has a lower carbon or water footprint than a plastic bag, the value is in long, repeated use.
We use woven, mechanically processed bamboo, which is a true natural fibre. We do not use chemically dissolved bamboo, that is rayon (viscose) and should not be described as natural or biodegradable. We are verifying the exact material with our supplier before putting this claim on any bag. [Pon Vayal to confirm exact material with supplier.]
Cotton and canvas bags can be hand- or machine-washed cold and air-dried. For banana and bamboo fibre, spot-clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap rather than soaking, and air-dry fully in the shade before storing. Whatever the fibre, the one rule that matters is to keep a bag dry between uses, natural fibres can grow mould if they are stored damp.
